Bitumen Melting and Heating System Commissioned in Benghazi, Libya !
MBA has completed the piping installation and commissioning of a 10 t/h big-bag bitumen melting plant, a 1,000,000 kcal/h thermal oil heater, and a 25 m³/h bitumen pump supplied for a project in Benghazi, Libya.
Following equipment supply, on-site piping installation, and commissioning, the complete system was handed over to our customer.
Technical Scope of the Benghazi Project
The project included a 10 t/h bitumen melting plant for melting bitumen supplied in big bags. A 1,000,000 kcal/h thermal oil heater was provided to meet the heating requirements of the melting process.
Our team completed the thermal oil piping between the heater and the melting plant on site, establishing the heating connections required for operation.
A 25 m³/h bitumen pump was installed to transfer the melted bitumen. This figure refers to the pump’s transfer capacity; the melting capacity of the plant is 10 t/h.
The melting, heating, and transfer equipment was installed together to meet the project requirements.
On-Site Piping Installation and Commissioning
After the equipment arrived in Benghazi, our team carried out the on-site piping work. MBA completed the connections between the bitumen melting plant, thermal oil heater, and bitumen pump.
Once the piping installation was complete, the system was commissioned. Heating, bitumen melting, and melted bitumen transfer operations were carried out, bringing the plant into operation.
MBA’s scope covered equipment supply, on-site piping installation, and commissioning. The system was handed over to our customer upon completion of these works.
Integrated Bitumen Melting, Heating, and Transfer
Big-bag bitumen melting projects require the melting unit, heating equipment, and transfer system to be considered together. The piping connections between these units are an essential part of bringing the complete system into operation.
In the Benghazi project, the thermal oil heater supplied the heat required for melting, while the bitumen pump handled the transfer of the melted product. The project was completed with piping installation and commissioning covering all three units.
